Zurich Airport Expresses Investment Interest in Balchik Airport

The Zurich Airport has expressed investment interest in the Bulgarian coastal Balchik Airport, the Balchik local authorities said.

Representatives of the Swiss company visited the town of Balchik and held talks with its town mayor Nikolai Angelov, the municipality said in a statement.

The Balchik airport has a 2.5-kilometre runway that could be extended by another kilometre to the north.

In 2011 Bulgaria's government adopted a decision to turn the disused military airfield in Balchik into a civilian airport.

The town of Balchik is located on Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coast.
