The construction of a 14.7-kilometre section of Struma motorway, linking the capital Sofia with the Greek border, will be completed by July 2014, the regional development ministry said.
The construction works on the Sandanski-Kulata section will be completed 90 days later than planned because of the need to move some cables, whose exact location was not known in advance, the ministry said in a press release.
The 67.2 million lev ($45.9 million/34.4 million euro) contract for the construction of the Sandanski-Kulata section has been awarded to Greek company Aktor.
The Struma motorway, with a total length of 173.28 km, is part of pan-European transport Corridor IV. Its construction is divided into four sections: Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitsa, Dupnitsa – Blagoevgrad, Blagoevgrad-Sandanski, and Sandanski-Kulata.
