International law firm White&Case will represent Bulgaria before the International Court of Arbitration in Paris on a claim lodged by Russia's Atomstroyexport, economy minister Delyan Dobrev said.
The Russian company is seeking 1.0 billion levs ($664 million/511 million euro) in compensations for Bulgaria's decision to abandon a project for the construction of a second nuclear power plant in the country.
The government has been preparing its legal defence in the case for six months already, business daily Dnevnik.bg quoted Dobrev as telling parliament on Friday.
White&Case has advised the Bulgarian government on the split-up of the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) from power grid operator NEK, as well as on the issue of a 950 million euro benchmark eurobond.
