The US State Department on Thursday expressed its support for the electricity interconnection of Greece, Cyprus and Israel, and noted that the Euro-Asia Interconnector project tracks an efficient and flexible route.
As such, it can also be used as a platform for the exploitation of other renewable energy sources, apart from electricity transmission, it noted.
The US State Dept. spokesman also reiterated that the US supports efforts to reduce tensions in the East Mediterranean, and welcomes the resumption of exploratory talks between Greece and Turkey.
