Unemployment Rate Drops to 18.6% in September Year on Year, Statistical Data Shows

The unemployment rate dropped to 18.6% in September 2018, adjusted seasonally, over 20.8% in September 2017 and 18.9% in August 2018, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) data on Thursday. The total of all working people reached 3,879,461 in Sestpember 2018, with the unemployed totalling 887,009 people and financially inactive working-age population totalling 3,199,929, the authority said. There were 88,025 people added to the working ranks, compared to September 2017 (a 2.3% increase) or 18,240 individuals more than the August 2018 totals (a 0.5% increase), the Authority said.
