The industrial zones around the city of Plovdiv have absorbed investments of over 1.0 billion euro by more than 60 big companies, the Sofia News Agency (Novinite.com) reported.
Eight municipalities have signed an agreement to jointly develop the Trakia economic zone through public-private partnership, the news agency wrote.
The Trakia economic zone is expected to attract new investments of 700-800 million, the news agency quoted Plamen Panchev, chairman of the board of directors of local company Sienit Holding, as saying. It will include existing zones which have been built over the past 15 years and ones which were under construction, adding up to a total area of 10.7 million square metres.
