Tourism Is the Tiger of the Greek Economy, Says EC Spokesman Schinas

The Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) aims at 9 million more tourists by 2021, as it was outlined in a PwC study presented in the 15th conference of SETE.
More specifically, arrivals are expected to reach 34.8 million from 26 million and revenues to exceed 20 billion euros. The contribution of tourism to the Greek economy will come to 44 billion euros while more than 1 million people will be employed in the tourism sector.
European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas stressed that tourism is "the tiger of the Greek economy." In 2026 the contribution to the country's GDP will exceed 22 percent, while 28 percent of the total workforce will be employed in the tourism sector.
