Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in January rose by 86.6%

The revenue from overnights spent by foreign nationals reached 22.2 million levs in the first month of this year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.

The total number of tourist overnights spent in the country in the month under review was 702,000, up 51.4% on an annual comparison basis. Some 266,800 of total overnights were spent by foreign tourists.

In January, four and five-star accommodation facilities served 43.2% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists and 77.9% of the overnights of international visitors.

The number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in January was 291,800, up 33.4% year-on-year.
