Today Is A Historic Day for the European Union, Commissioner Avramopoulos Says

Today is a historic day for the European Union, EU Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos on Thursday said adding that the new European Border Guard and Coast Guard is a symbol for the EU.

"It is a symbol of a Europe that can be effective and united. It is a symbol of a Europe that can address with determination and in cooperation with its neighbouring countries the challenges of the migration crisis and the threats to its security," he underlined and added: "It is a symbol of the common responsibility to protect our common EU borders. It is a symbol of our determination to continue to move freely, without internal borders."
