After conducting an extensive search, the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Business Council in Bulgaria is pleased to announce the appointment of Minko Gerdjikov as Executive Director effective October 1, 2011. In this role, Mr. Gerdjikov will lead HBCB's efforts to promote the interests of HBCB members by providing networking, advocacy, and business insights, maintaining strong relations with member companies and stakeholders. Prior to this position, he had a long and distinguished career in the Bulgarian Government and Local Authorities.
Stamatios Theodoropoulos, Chairman of the HBCB BoD said that Minko Gerdjikov will bring extensive business, diplomatic and policy experience to the organisation. In particular Minko has a wealth of experience with bilateral Greek-Bulgarian economic relations from his roles as Councellor on commercial and economic issues at the Bulgarian Embassy in Athens.
Minko Gerdjikov holds a Master's degree in "Finance and credit" from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia. He has also specialized in "Insurance of Foreign Trade Activities" at the UNWE. His has worked for Bulstrad AD till 1985 and till 1987 he was an expert on trade relations with Greece at the Ministry of Foreign Trade. From 1987 to 1991 he was appointed commercial Attaché at the Bulgarian Embassy in Athens, then he headed the "Southeastern Europe" Directorate at the Ministry of Trade. In 1997, he became Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Trade Relations. Until 2002, Mr. Gerdjikov was an Economic and Trade Councellor at the Bulgarian Embassy in Athens. Between 2002 and 2003 he was advisor on international projects at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and since the end of 2003 to 2011 he was a Deputy Mayor at Sofia Municipality, department "Finance and economic activities".
