The Balkans' First Factory to Become a Museum

The Balkans' First Factory to Become a Museum

The one in a row installment of the Standart's Wonders of Bulgaria discussion is taking place in the town of Sliven.
Agriculture Minister Desislava Taneva, Stamen Yanev, Director of the Bulgarian Agency for Investments, Delyan Dobrev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, experts, local businessmen and governors are going to draw up a roadmap for the development of cultural and historical tourism in the region. The forum will be hosted by Sliven Mayor Stefan Radev.
One of the key projects in their plan is the reconstruction of the fisrt factory on the Balkans, set up by local entrepreneur Dobri Zhelyazkov in 1834, into a modern, interactive museum.
Another project provides that the towns of Sliven, Kotel and the village of Zheravna be connected in a tourist route called Old Crafts, featuring carpet-making, wood carving and other crafts that have long traditions in the region.
