Tenders for two sections of Hemus motorway May Open in mid-2015

Tenders for the construction of two sections of Hemus motorway may open in the middle of 2015, regional development minister Desislava Terzieva said, as quoted by the Bulgarian News Agency.

The ministry has already opened a tender for the technical design of the section connecting Yablanitsa to Pleven and Lovech in northern Bulgaria and is about to launch a tender for the extension of the motorway to Veliko Tarnovo, Terzieva said.

After the completion of the technical design stage, it will be able to start with the construction procedures.

Terzieva expects to find a funding mechanism for the project until then. She does not rule out the option where the sections may be financed by the state budget, the news agency added.

The estimated length of the Yablanitsa – Veliko Tarnovo sections is approximately 120 kilometres.
