"Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, after ignoring skyrocketing energy rates, initiating the privatisation of the Public Power Corporation (PPC) during a major energy crisis and ignoring a wave of general price increases that is devastating businesses and households, stated on Thursday that he is deeply concerned over this phenomenon," main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance head of economic affairs, Effie Achtsioglou said in a comment on the prime minister's statements.
"He also underlined that the measures proposed by the EU are moving in the directions of those that his government has already implemented," she added.
"At least, he expressed hope that this phenomenon will be temporary and informed the citizens that they will be burdened with the cost of the explosive increases but may perhaps pay them in installments. We are certain that his statements will comfort the citizens when they see the next electricity bill," Achtsioglou concluded.
