Sofia to get govt funding for final payment for purchase of subway trains

Bulgaria's government said on Wednesday that it has decided to allocate 20 million levs ($12.1 million/10.2 million euro) to Sofia's budget, intended to finance the final installment due under a contract for the purchase of 10 subway trains.

The funds will also be used for the supply and installation of platform screen doors on Sofia's subway lines 1 and 2, the government said in a statement following its weekly meeting.

Last year, Metropolitan, the municipality-owned company operating the underground railway system in Sofia, signed an agreement to buy 10 new Siemens trains for a total of 88 million levs.
