Sofia Subway Operator Opens Construction Tender for 7.2 km Section

Metropolitan AD, the state-owned operator of Sofia underground, has opened a tender for the design and construction of a 7.2-kilometre (km) section of the Sofia subway, a tender notice indicated.

The construction of the section is phase one of a project for a third line of the Sofia subway which is planned to have a length of 16.5 km and 19 sections, 10 of which would be underground.

The tender, whose value has not been indicated, consists of four lots and includes the construction of seven metro stations and a tunnel section of 6.7 km, a notice published last week on the website of the Public Procurement Agency showed.

The project is co-financed under the EU-funded operational programme Transport and Transport Infrastructure.

The section will cross the central parts of the city, connecting Botevgradsko shosse boulevard with Ovcha Kupel 1 neighbourhood in south-western Sofia.

The project is expected to be completed within 45 months of signing.

Bids can be submitted by May 29.
