Sofia Signs 23 Mln Euro Deal with PESA Bydgoszcz for Supply of 13 Trams

Sofia Public Electrical Transport Company, which services the Bulgarian capital, said on Monday that it has signed a 44.8 million levs deal with Poland's Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz for supply of 13 trams. The deal was signed on January 29, Sofia Public Electrical Transport Company said in a notice.Sofia Public Electrical Transport Company initially picked Czech rolling stock manufacturer Skoda Transportation as winner of the tender for awarding the contract in October 2017. However, the Czech company was subsequently disqualified following a complaint filed with the Commission for Protection of Competition by Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz. Skoda Transportation later unsuccessfully challenged the regulator's decision before the Supreme Administrative Court.
