Thursday, 01 January 1970
Heating utility Toplofikatsia Sofia plans to call tenders for 42.45 million euro ($54.6 million) modernisation of the capital's heating and co-generation plants and infrastructure, co-financed under the KIDSF fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said.
The KIDSF fund, administered by the EBRD, was established in 2001 to finance the decommissioning of four units of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant and mitigate the subsequent effects by funding energy efficiency projects. The fund will provide 50% of the budget for the upgrade and Toplofikatsia will cover the other half. The KIDSF will also foot the consultancy services, of 550,000 euro, EBRD added in the statement.
The scope of the contract comprises the construction of a co-generation plant, the reconstruction of boiler units, replacement of a turbine, installation flue gas systems and replacement of some 30-35 kilometre of pipes with new pre-insulated ones.
Tenders for the contracts are expected to be called in the third quarter of 2013 and continue in 2014.
The utility group provides heating to over 405,000 households in the capital.
