Sofia, Belgrade on Track To Have Motorway Link in 2014

Bulgaria and Serbia said they are on track to link their capital cities by motorway in 2014.

"Sofia will most probably complete its section of the motorway that will connect it with neighouring Serbia in 2014," Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov told SeeNews on the sidelines of a Bulgarian-Serbian business forum.

The motorway of some 50 kilometres from Sofia to the border with Serbia is planned to be completed by 2015 at an estimated cost of some 405 million euro ($554 million) in the government's programme to build from scratch or complete seven motorways, the same number of high-speed roads, two bridges over the Danube river and a north-to-south tunnel under the Balkan mountain range in central Bulgaria.
