Socialists Name Ex-Fin Min Oresharski as Candidate PM

The Socialists' Coalition For Bulgaria named former finance minister Plamen Oresharski as their candidate for prime minister, the coalition's leader Sergey Stanishev said.
"The cabinet's three topmost priorities will be electricity bills, the prices of medicines and urgent incentives for the economy," Stanishev said.
Even though it came out second in the general elections, the Socialists' coalition is very likely to govern the country as the elections winner - the centre-right party GERB of former prime minister - has neither enough seats in the National Assembly, nor the support of the other parliamentary represented parties.
For his part Oresharski, who is not a member of the Socialist party, said his cabinet would introduce a new model of interaction between the state and business, and pledged to bring down fees for the business and ensure quick repayment of overdue VAT.
