The social protection mechanisms in Bulgaria have survived the economic crisis, World Bank experts claim.
In a special commentary, the authors of the WB report entitled The Jobs Crisis: Household and Government Responses to the Great recession in Eastern Europe and Central Asia claim that Bulgaria's response has been more adequate than that in most countries in the region.
Although the economic crisis has caused serious difficulties for Bulgarians, so far Bulgaria has managed to avoid the gravest effects of the crisis that have hit other countries. Bulgaria's mechanism for unemployment benefits has mitigated the most unpleasant effects of the crisis, the report says. /Source: BNR/
