SJC Plenum Adopted Measures to Execute Key Recommendations Outlined in the EC CVM Report

The Bulgarian Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) adopted measures to execute the key recommendations outlined in the European Commission (EC) report to the European Parliament and the Council regarding Bulgaria’s progress on the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) from January 25, 2017, the press centre of the SJC announced. The measures were in the areas of Independence and Accountability of the Judiciary and Continuing the Reform of the Judiciary, with an implementation period of February – June 2017. The measures provide for the adoption of amendments to the rules of electing a president of the Supreme Court of Cassation, chair of the Supreme Administrative Court, and Chief Prosecutor in accordance to the new Law on the Judiciary.
