Perspectives for development of the Bulgarian-Russian partnership in the energy sector – this is what Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov and Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak discussed during their meeting. PM Borisov emphasized the progress in the Bulgarian-Russian relations in the energy sector which is the result, as he put it, of consistent efforts in this direction on both sides.
After an agreement was reached between the two countries on the NPP Belene future last year, now there are no obstacles to the future partnership between Sofia and Moscow in the energy field.
PM Borisov also highlighted the road map for expansion of the natural gas transit infrastructure in the territory of Bulgaria in compliance with the EU regulations, signed at the beginning of June 2017 by Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova and Gazprom's Chief Alexey Miller, defining it as "a positive step".
Borisov also mentioned the project for the construction of a European natural gas hub in Bulgaria, whose feasibility study has already been funded with 920 million euro by the EU.
PM Borisov went on to say that Bulgaria is working hard to guarantee the energy security in Central and Southeastern Europe.
