Retail Sales Volume up 3.8 Pct in June

Greek retail sales volume rose 3.8 pct in June, compared with the same month last year, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.
The statistics service, in a report, said that from shop categories, bookstores’ sales rose 16.9 pct, pharmaceutical-cosmetics rose 10 pct, clothing/footwear were up 6.4 pct, supermarkets rose 1.4 pct and fuel/lubricant sales rose 1.4 pct. On the other hand, the volume of turnover fell by 10.5 pct in furniture/home appliance, 7.8 pct in department stores and 5.2 pct in food/tobacco stores.
The statistics service also said that the volume index (turnover in fixed prices) in the retail sector grew 3.8 pct in June compared with June 2013, while the turnover index (current prices) rose 0.4 pct in June from June 2013.
