Registered Unemployment Up in October

Registered unemployment grew 3.55 pct in October, totaling 844,710, from 815,720 in September, the employment organization OAED said in a report released on Tuesday. OAED said that 482,150 registered unemployed (57.08 pct of total) were registered for more than 12 months, while men totaled 307,336 (36.38 pct) and women totaled 537,374 (63.62 pct). The number of registered unemployed not seeking a job totaled 167,559 in October, from 123,465 in September, an increase of 37.71 pct. The number of people receiving unemployment benefit totaled 104,636 in October, from 138,798 in September. The number of registered unemployed (seeking job) grew 2.45 pct in October compared with the same month last year, while unemployed not seeking job grew 35.80 pct in the same period and the number of people receiving unemployment benefit was up to 104,636 from 97,268 in October 2017.
