Record-high 2016 in Tourism, Minister Angelkova Says

Outgoing Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova took part in the ceremony, designating 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development under the auspices of the UN World Tourism Organization. The event was marked with a solemn reception, given by King Felipe VI of Spain in Madrid. The king and Mrs. Angelkova discussed at the reception global tourism challenges. The Bulgarian minister underlined that 2016 was record-high for the tourism of this country with over 8 mln. foreign tourists welcomed – a digit, exceeding the size of the state’s own population.
