Public gas supplier Bulgargaz is proposing an increase in price

The proposal, published on the website of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) marks a sharp increase on the price of 113.73 levs per MWh for the month of March. It is also significantly higher than the price of 113.85 levs per MWh for April, which Bulgargaz said last month it planned to propose for approval to the energy regulator.

On Friday, Bulgargaz said it expects the wholesale price of gas applicable for May to increase to 157.73 levs, considering the concurrent forecasts for the price components.

Bulgaria increased its imports of Russian natural gas by 20.75% year-on-year to 279 million cubic metres in January, Russian state news agency TASS reported last week.

The launch of a gas interconnection with Greece, on which Bulgaria relies to reduce its almost complete dependence on Russian gas supplies, could be delayed until the autumn, Sofia-based media reported last week.
