Prosecution Wants Ex-Premier Stanishev Fined

The prosecuting magistracy has finished an investigation against former prime minister Sergei Stanishev and has asked that he should be fined, BTA learned from judicial sources.

Over a year ago Stanishev was charged with making public a state secret. The prosecution claims that classified documents were lost.

In July 2010, Stanishev was charged with losing seven classified reports: three originating from the State Agency for National Security, two from the Interior Ministry, one from the defence minister and one from NATO. They all constitute a state secret, according to two expert examinations.
