Projects worth 675 Million Levs Realised in North-western Bulgaria under Environment OP: Minister

"What has been achieved is a clear success for the team that runs the project - designers, consultants, supervisors and contractors who managed to build the facility that serves 11 municipalities according to schedule. This is an example of a good partnership. Nearly 100,000 people will be the beneficiaries of this facility."
That is what Minister of Environment and Water Ivelina Vasileva said when opened newly constructed system of waste management in the town of Vidin, a reporter of Radio Focus – Vidin announced.
The facility provides composting of biodegradable waste, which provide disposal in an environmentally sound manner in the established landfill.
The Minister pointed out that the landfill allows treatment of construction waste and compliance with the commitment our country has taken to close the so-called "old landfills". "Here on the territory of the new facility was rehabilitated the old landfill. Five landfills in the region will be closed," Minister Vasileva added.
She explained that the Ministry of Environment and Water finances the so-called Water Cycle project, which is very important for Vidin. This project provides for treatment of wastewater in an environmentally friendly way.
The Ministry actively supports municipalities in Vidin district and the Northwest region under the Environment operational programme which realized projects on the territory of north-western Bulgaria totalling 675 million levs.
