Private Sector Arrears to the State Slightly Down in March

Taxpayers' arrears to the state totaled 104.2 billion euro in March, down 0.1 pct from April, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) said in a report on Friday. The report said that new arrears to the state rose by 235 million euro in March, recording a significant slowdown in their monthly growth rate. AADE said that the real outstanding sum of arrears was 85.693 billion euro (excluding arrears defined as non-collectable). The number of debtors amounted to 3,842,108 in March, down 1.82 pct from the previous month. New arrears created so far this year came to 3.136 billion euro.
