We will not lock down the country. Initially, we didn't know much about the virus, so there were stricter measures. Now, however, we are much more confident and know exactly what we need to do, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on November 4 in a video on Facebook.
He commented that the healthy should work, the infected should be quarantined, and the sick should receive fast and proper treatment. We are calm because we have supported the hospitals, the doctors, the nurses, the paramedics, the police, the firefighters, the healthcare workers. They will cope with the pressure. Together with the ministers, we will continue to help - on the front line, each in his/her area of responsibility, we will take care of the people and the business. There will be no hungry person! And when there is a vaccine in the spring, we will recover from the crisis very quickly, the PM added.
Boyko Borissov: We are successfully managing the pandemic and our opponents are very angry. They were preparing a coup for us. Poisonous fake news sites were particularly active. To this day, they continue to lie on my behalf. These people have no shame. Fortunately, the members of the public did not believe them. Because their plan was simple: no Parliament, no budget, no funding for the measures. So the state would go bankrupt and the blame would fall on us.
Without Parliament and a government, the sole power would be in the President. They didn't succeed. We are still the first political force and we will justify the people's trust. They expect work from us, and we are the best at it. Our battle against the virus continues. We can overcome it. If we observe the anti-epidemic measures and are responsible - we will manage, Prime Minister Borissov said.
