President Rumen Radev has conversed on the telephone with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the President's Press Secretariat reported Tuesday.
Radev said that the political dialogue and understanding are of key importance for guaranteeing peace and stability in the region of the Persian Gulf. The emerged misunderstandings between Qatar and other countries in the region should be smoothed out only through diplomacy, said Radev during the conversation on Tuesday, which was initiated by the Qatari side.
The Bulgarian head of State has called for using all diplomatic means to prevent the escalation of tension in the region and keeping the integrity of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. Radev has paid special attention to Kuwait's mediation initiative, voicing hope that the interested sides will manage to take advantage of it.
The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf is an important partner of the EU and Bulgaria. "We highly value the traditionally good and friendly relations between us and would like to see them continued and deepened," Radev is quoted as saying.
