President Rosen Plevneliev has proposed the introduction of a standard for all public procurement procedures in a bid to improve transparency.
"The problem is clear and the solution is elementary - standardized and typified public procurement procedures for wastewater treatment plants, roads, kindergartens, urban environment," the Sofia News Agency (Novinite.com) quoted Plevneliev as saying on Monday at a conference on sustainable business environment.
In addition to saving billions in taxpayers' money, this step would also ensure predictability in the business sector, according to Plevneliev.
"It is impossible to do business without creating an environment of confidence. The economy slipped into recession as a result of the loss of confidence," the head of the state added.
