Foreign trade between Bulgaria and Germany increased by 64% between 2009 and 2013, President Rosen Plevneliev said, Wednesday.
Since 2010, French companies and institutions have had a strong position in Bulgaria, said Plevneliev, who awarded the ex-French Ambassador Philippe Autie and current German Ambassador Matthias Hoepfner with Stara Planina order at an official ceremony, Wednesday.
Bulgaria and Germany enjoy close, friendly relations as member states of the EU and NATO. In the period 2009-2013, bilateral trade reached a very significant volume of over EUR 5.5B in 2013 - an absolute record despite the severe economic crisis, President Plevneliev noted, as cited by Bulgaria's National Radio.
