Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Wednesday evening met with Margaritis Schinas, the European Commission's Vice President-designate for Protecting the European Way of Life.
Pavlopoulos congratulated Schinas and said his appointment reflects the high profile he enjoys in the European Union.
"Your new field of responsibilities is both broad and critical," Pavlopoulos said, "not only for Greece but for all EU member states."
Margaritis Schinas thanked Pavlopoulos for the warm welcome and the long-standing support, saying that "we have a lot of work ahead of us," and noted that he will most likely assume his new duties on December 1.
