PM Mitsotakis reiterates four proposals to reduce police violence, in post on Facebook

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated in a Facebook posting the government's basic proposals for police that he had mentioned in Parliament earlier in the day.

They include, briefly, the following:

  1. Body cameras worn by all police units
  2. Enforcing psychological tests for applying to the police force and following up on those serving in special forces
  3. Introducing a bill in Parliament for upgrading of police studies
  4. Introducing an Ombudsman assisting the Greek Ombudsman who will focus entirely on issues of police violence.

These measures, Mitsotakis said, will help reduce incidents of violence by police in the future. "A police officer is obliged to be self-controlled and is obligated to follow the rules," he stressed.
