The largest increase in passengers to/from Sofia Airport was reported by Wizz Air, which serviced 25,000 more people in April 2015 than in April 2014. The increase resulted from the introduction of three new direct services in May 2014 and more frequent flights along some routes on the current summer timetable.
Since the beginning of March, Qatar Airways has been operating a direct service between Sofia and Doha (Doha-Sofia-Belgrade-Sofia-Doha). This led to a 50 per cent increase in passengers between Sofia and Doha in April 2015 compared with April 2014.
The number of passengers transported by Air Serbia to/from Sofia Airport doubled as a result of increased capacity and seat occupancy rates between Sofia and Belgrade.
