Passenger Traffic via Varna, Bourgas Airports Rises in H1

 The number of passengers serviced at Bulgaria’s two coastal airports  - in Burgas and Varna - rose in the first half of 2013, the airports’ operator said.
The number of passengers serviced at the Varna airport rose by an annual 17.2% to some 388,583, while at the Burgas airport traffic increased 5.3% to 630,420 passengers in the January-June period, Germany's Fraport said.
Cargo traffic at the Varna airport rose 2.3% in the first six months of the year to 14 tonnes. At the Burgas airport, cargo traffic increased by 12.2% to 1,361 tonnes.
Aircraft movements at the Varna airport went up 17.3% to 3,977, while at the Burgas airport they declined 5.8% to 5,568 in the period under review.
The two airports are the main gateways to the Bulgarian coastal resorts for millions of foreign tourists.Varna airport was closed from October 15, 2011 to February 28, 2012 and Burgas airport handled all flights during this period.
