Passenger traffic at Bulgaria's coastal airports of Varna and Burgas dropped by an annual 73.4% to 22,177 in January, Germany's Fraport Group said on Thursday.
Passenger traffic at the busier Varna Airport fell 72% to 20,468, while passengers at Burgas Airport decreased by 83.6% to 1,709 in the first month of 2021, Fraport Group said in a statement.
Aircraft movements slid 56.9% to 324 in the review period.
Cargo handled at the two airports dropped 20.2% to 510 t.
Burgas and Varna airports are run by Fraport Twin Star Airport Management under a 35-year concession contract awarded in 2006. Fraport Twin Star Airport Management is a 60/40 joint venture of Fraport and Bulgarian company BM Star.
