Bulgaria's Parliament adopted on Wednesday the Civil Service Act which sets a ceiling for bonuses at up to 80% of an employee's annual salary.
Bonuses will be paid four times a year, Parliament said in a statement posted on its website.
The lawmakers also scrapped additional payments for length of service.
Under the new act, state budget-financed institutions will be allowed to distribute as bonus payments no more than 30% of the total amount of salaries of their employees.
The Civil Service Act was adopted with 69 MPs voting in favour, 15 against and 7 abstaining, local news daily Dnevnik reported.
