NSI: Business Climate Improves in Industry and Retail in November

In November 2017, the general business climate indicator remains close to the level of the previous month, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said. An improvement was registered in industry and retail trade, while in the services sector the level remained unchanged. Only in construction, the indicator went down.
In industry, the business climate indicator increased by 1.2 percentage points as a result of optimistic expectations about the sector in the next 6 months. Meanwhile, the current production activity is seen as slightly lower, but the forecasts for the next 3 months are more favourable. The uncertain economic environment and the shortage of workforce are the main negative factors for the sector.
Business climate in retail trade went up by one percentage point, driven by better expectations for the next 6 months.
