Bulgarians made 653,300 trips abroad in May 2017, a 15.7% increase against May 2016, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said.
The largest increase was observed in trips to Spain, the UK and Germany, by 39.6%, 34.4% and 25.9%, respectively. At the same time, a decrease was registered in trips to Israel and Hungary, among other countries.
Overall in May 2017, the largest share of trips by Bulgarians abroad, 38.2%, had other purposes (as a guest, for education or for cultural and sport events), followed by holiday and recreation trips, with 36%, and work trips, with 25.8%.
In May 2017, the visits by foreigners to Bulgaria reached 866,300, up by 7.2% from a year earlier.
