Trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad were 548 800 in April 2017, up by 17.7% from April 2016, according to the National Statistics Institute (NSI).
An increase was registered in trips to Italy – by 46.1%, Greece – 38.1%, Austria – 36.1%, Spain - 24.4%, UK - 23.6%, Romania - 19.6%, Germany - 19.5%, FYROM - 14.0%, Serbia - 12.9%, Turkey - 5.1%, France - 4.8%.
A decrease was registered in trips to Portugal – by 25.8%, Ukraine - 25.8%, Russian Federation - 10.5%, Czech Republic - 7.8%.
The highest share of trips abroad were linked to visits, study, culture and sport events - 46.4%, followed by work trips - 27.6%, and trips for vacation and excursion - 26.0%. All types of trips increased compared to April 2016.
Last month there were also 633 700 trips of foreigners to Bulgaria, up by 13.5% on the year. All types of trips increased. A total 56.8% of foreigners who visited Bulgaria were citizens of the EU.
