The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) elected Nikolai Kokinov for a second term as Sofia City Prosecutor with 15 of the 24 SJC members voting in favour of his nomination.
"We need evolution rather than revolution to improve the performance of the Sofia Regional Prosecution Office (SRPO)," state-run Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) cited Kokinov as saying. He added that the office needs only a minor structural adjustment to handle the increased tax offences.
Kokinov will keep his present deputies and proposed to appoint Margarita Nemska as SRPO spokesperson.
During a debate preceding Kokinov's appointment, Prosecutor General Boris Velchev said he had put his office on the right track.
