A new 17-kilometre section of Trakiya highway was launched on Friday, extending it from Sofia to Petolachkata road junction near the city of Sliven, the Road Infrastructure Agency said.
The Burgas-bound lanes of the new section were launched on Friday, while the lanes in the opposite direction opened for traffic on Sunday.
Some 30 km of the 360 km highway remain to be built.
Depending on the weather conditions, the entire Trakiya highway is expected to be completed in April or May, Prime Minister Boiko Borisov said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, as quoted by the Sofia News Agency (novinite.com).
