The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria rose by an annual 54.2% to 1.4 billion euro ($1.7 billion) in the first seven months of 2020, the central bank said on Friday.
The net FDI inflow in the January-July period of 2020, calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 2.5% of the central bank's forecast for Bulgaria's gross domestic product for this year, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
The largest net direct investment inflow into Bulgaria in the review period came from the Netherlands - of 192.8 million euro. Russia and Hungary followed with 121.1 million euro and 107.2 million euro, respectively.
In July alone, Bulgaria attracted a net FDI inflow of 958.8 million euro, up from 400 million euro in July 2019.
