Net FDI into Bulgaria falls 41% in Jan-Oct

The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria decreased by 40.6% on the year to 665.8 million euro ($812.0 million) in the January-October period, the central bank said on Wednesday.

The net FDI inflow in the first ten months of this year calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 1.2% of the central bank's forecast for Bulgaria's 2020 gross domestic product, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.

The largest net direct investment inflow into Bulgaria in the review period came from the Netherlands - of 473.5 million euro. Austria and Germany followed with 211.8 million euro and 131.3 million euro, respectively.

In October alone, Bulgaria recorded a net FDI inflow of 26.1 million euro, down from an inflow of 65 million euro in the same month of 2019.
