The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria decreased by 30.9% year-on-year to 729.5 million euro ($866.4 million) in the first nine months of 2020, the central bank said on Tuesday.
The net FDI inflow in the January-September period calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 1.3% of the central bank's forecast for Bulgaria's 2020 gross domestic product, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
The largest net direct investment inflow into Bulgaria in the review period came from the Netherlands - of 418.7 million euro. Austria and Germany followed with 235.4 million euro and 122.3 million euro, respectively.
In September alone, Bulgaria recorded a net FDI inflow of 268.9 million euro, up from an inflow of 53.3 million euro in the same month of last year.
