National Revenue Agency Relocation Postponed

Prime minister Boiko Borisov said that the National Revenue Agency (NRA) will not for the time being be relocated from the capital Sofia to the city of Veliko Tarnovo, in the country's north, as planned.

Such a move would cost the budget a lot of money, which we currently cannot afford, local business daily Capital quoted Borisov as saying during an official visit to Veliko Tarnovo on Thursday.

"We will do it when we have enough money," Borisov added.

With the planned relocation of government departments outside the capital the cabinet hopes to boost the regions' economic development.

Finance minister Simeon Dyankov has said that Veliko Tarnovo was chosen as NRA's new location due to the good performance of the agency's local directorate. The finance ministry declined to comment Borisov's statement.
