Ministry of Tourism to Promote Plovdiv as 2019 European Capital of Culture

Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism and the Plovdiv 2019 Municipal Foundation inked a framework agreement on joint activities and cooperation in support of Bulgaria’s second-biggest city of Plovdiv’s hosting the 2016 European Capital of Culture initiative, the press office of the Ministry of Tourism announced.

The foundation is organising and managing the project, while the ministry will assist in its popularisation, putting an accent on Plovdiv and Bulgaria as destinations with thousand-year-old history and great variety of tourism opportunities.

The bilateral partnership aims at boosting the interest in Plovdiv as a tourist route and the realisation of the 2019 European Capital of Culture, which has great international and national importance. 

The ministry and Plovdiv Municipality will join efforts for efficient marketing in the promotion of Bulgaria and Plovdiv as attractive destinations with rich cultural heritage. 

Under the partnership, Plovdiv’s logo as European Capital of Culture will be present in the design and presentation of the Bulgarian national and information-advertising stands at international exhibitions organised by the Ministry of Tourism.
