In 2017, one of every two tourists chose a trip through one’s personal smartphone, therefore this year digitisation is a main focus in the sector, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said at the opening of an international round table on digital transformation in tourism, held as part of the Bulgarian EU presidency, FOCUS News Agency reports. The forum focuses on digital transformation of the Bulgarian tourism sector and the opportunities emerging from digitisation, the minister said. Amid the growing use of Internet and mobile devices globally, the launch of the I Love Bulgaria project was very important for the ministry, she noted, adding that the platform has already been upgraded with over 250 new tourist attractions and includes more than 500 sites.
